duck

if you try hard enough, the word duck looks like a duck.

First ducking post

Have you ever noticed that the work quack is very similar to the word duck?

quack

Flip the q over and take out the a and you're all set.

Next ducking post

My mind tells me that writing things could be carthartic in rough times, so I'm going to do something about a duck.

The first thing I did was to get rid of the ugly header and create that image of a little duck. It's pretty good if I do say so myself. It was the first time that I've really tried doing vector drawing with InkScape. The program seems pretty barebones, but it does the job. I'm sure it is much more powerful than I need it to be.

Possibly one of the next things I will look into it how to make that little duck look good on all types of screens. I know this page is responsive to changes in resolution, but as or right now, the little duck looks much better on a phone screen than it does on a 4K 28 inch monitor.

Oh the joys of CSS

I'm also using a blog site template from somewhere, and it includes all of these formatting examples to play with. So... I'm playing with them.

Duck

Now if you've made it this far you're going to be in for a treat. Since I'm not really writing anything productive, yet I'm still going to play with the formatting, we're going to have some place-keeping latin.

Smaller duck

The amount of latin will likely get smaller as I decide to replace it with my beautiful soliloquy of gibberish.

Duck in a box
Duck in a smaller? box

Now that I'm looking at the CSS files, it also looks as though the container that holds this blog on the page is stuck at an odd value of 970 pixels. But only when the screen width is over 1200 pixels wide. I understand the idea behind it given that if this post were able to takeup the entire screen width of a 4K monitor then it would all be in one very long line, but I feel like there might be another way of doing it on the big guys.

Another smaller duck

To help picture why I see this as a problem...

  • The width of a 4K monitor is 3840 pixels
  • The width of this container is 970 pixels
  • 970/3840 ~ 1/4
  • Aligned to the centre of the screen, this mismatch looks slightly like the box below compared to the post container
25% duck

As it turns out, I've got more gibberish on my mind than I thought I would, so I'm actually running out of Lorem Ipsum for you to stare at lovingly. I will keep this ordered list in latin for your viewing enjoyment. And until next time... quack.

  1. Vestibulum id ligula porta felis euismod semper.
  2. Cum sociis natoque penatibus et magnis dis parturient montes, nascetur ridiculus mus.
  3. Maecenas sed diam eget risus varius blandit sit amet non magna.

This bit is mine now too. quackity quack quack quack.
